ANNISQUAM HARBOR LIGHTHOUSE
Gloucester, Massachusetts

This place, Gloucester, has got a lot of lighthouses. This one was hard to see and from the only publicly accessible beach across the way. The light itself sits on private property with a private beach. Gotta know somebody to get out there on land. But if you had a boat. Anyway, I only have this one distant shot from my digital camera. It is also hard to find. I was photographing Ten Pound Island Light along the main drag and asked a lady walking by about the lights. She was most helpful and friendly and directed me to this public beach where I could see Annisquam Light across the cove.

Annisquam Harbor Lighthouse was built in 1897 at the end of Wigwam Point to mark the entrance to the harbor of the same name. It is a white brick tower rising only 41 feet in the air. It sported a 5th order Fresnel lens until 1988 when they replaced it with a modern optic.
