ASSATEAGUE ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE
Assateague Island, Virginia

On the first day of my trip from Atlanta, I had driven all the way up to Chincoteague National Seashore area and found a very nice place to stay. Though I wasn't planning on staying in as expensive a place the whole trip. I was to end up in Emerald Isle just south of the Outer Banks for a family reunion. I found a place to eat after checking in and then watched and photographed a sunset from my balcony. See the Sunrise/Sunset section for a couple of pictures from there.
Got up early and headed out to the lighthouse. You can see it as you cross this marshland waterway area. It stick up out of the woods like a big candy cane. Signs clearly mark the way to the light and parking lot. Please take note, WEAR LOTS OF INSECT REPELLENT.
Couldn't go in this one. At least at the time I was there. I liked the little stone monument.
Here's how I
