GRINDEL POINT LIGHTHOUSE

Islesboro, Maine

There is a ferry at Lincolnville that will take you right over to you right over to the Grindel Point Ferry Landing where the lighthouse sits watch. It is on Islesboro Island where the light station was established in 1850. The current tower was erected around 1874 at a height of 39 feet and at one time, housed a 5th order lens. This light was automated in 1934 and then deactivated until 1987 when a new optic was installed and the station reactivated.
