KATWIJK VUURTOREN

I had been looking forward to seeing this, mainly because I had seen it painted over with a giant mural resembling a Dali work. Turns out it was a canvas sheet painted and draped over the monolith. Stark and plain this relic of the past. Built in 1605. Used at least as a daymark, it probably had fires lit on top by night. They are quite proud of it and signs lead you into the town and to its door.
Of course it was pouring down rain and I was lucky to get a parallel parking spot across the street. I took photos out my window. Then I drove over to a parking lot over to the right where I took the photo below. Still raining hard. By the time I found a street behind the tower, it had stopped raining and I was able to get out of the car for my last shots.
