LONG BEACH BAR LIGHTHOUSE
Orient Point, Long
Island
New York

You can see this one from the roadside where there is a monument and plaque. Called the Bug Light for its original appearance, with the screw-pile support legs looking evermore buggy from the distant shore. It was first erected in 1870 but suffered damage in an arson suspected fire. Good fortune prevailed and the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation came up with the funds required. Restoration was completed in just 60 days and relit in 1990. The tower is 63 feet high. I didn't have the digital capabilities then so I don't have any great photos of this. Maybe I have some better with the slides if I ever find them
