FEU DU MENTON

I got up the second day and took off for the border of France and Italy. I drove on the A8 despite the fact that it was a toll road. It was the quickest way to get up there and then I could drive back along the coast to Antibes, then up to the hotel in Sophia Antipolis. Then I figured I might as well include Italy in the list of countries I have driven in so I cruised across the border up in the mountains into Italy. Things got older looking. Pre-Christ old. However my bubble of amazement broke quickly as I remembered the toll ticket and no Italian money. So I turned around and managed to pay francs for my fare.
I came back into France on A8 but then dropped down when I saw the sign for Menton. You drop down on the town from high up on the A8, driving on very zig-zaggy roads. Spectacular views from up there and driving down. I believe this was as pretty as I saw. The lights here are quite small, one marking each side of the port.
