MUKILTEO LIGHTHOUSE
Mukilteo, Washington

Seems I was able to find this one fairly easy. Just take 525 straight up to Mukilteo and right before the water, turn left on Front Street and park at the end. you can see the big parking lot in the foreground of the photo below. Very prim and proper looking, this pretty lighthouse stands resolutely against the weather of the Puget Sound inside its whitewashed picket fence. I walked around the big building to the left and went along the shoreline to get behind the lighthouse.
Mukilteo Lighthouse is right next to the ferry that takes passengers to Whidbey Island. It marks the southern point of Possession Sound and guides ships towards Everett. They built it in 1906, a tower with an attached fog signal building. The tower is 30 feet high with the focal plane at 33 feet. It has a 4th order Fresnel lens that was installed in 1927. It also got electricity that same year. Maybe together. Another lighthouse mystery. The lighthouse is open to the public from noon to 4 PM.
I went back again and this time rode the ferry over. I have a multitude of photos to share with you. The weather wasn't any better however than the first time I saw this place. It's quite a different perspective to finally see a lighthouse from the water.
Here's how I saw it:
