OLD FIELD POINT LIGHTHOUSE
Long Island, New York

I didn't see this one on Sunday because of the rain. Then on Monday, a picture perfect day, I started out once again to see Long Island lighthouses. I failed to see Coney Island. You gotta ask at the gate, but not knowing that and being there at dawn, I gave up quickly and proceeded to Eaton's Neck, where I failed also. Stopped by a policeman for speeding up the 'neck'. 40 in a 30 zone. Truth is, I was gawking in awe at the real estate along that road. Wealthy folks I would presume. Anyways I got off with a warning but he wouldn't let me go through his town to get out to the lighthouse. Said it wasn't open to the public and I would have to pass through private property. Turns out you can see the lighthouse, just make an appointment first with the Coast Guard. 631-261-6959.
Finally I made it over and up to Old Field Point. Very quaint little place, located at the end of Old Field Road. The lighthouse building is currently occupied by the village constable. One of the officers was sitting in his car when I pulled up and parked, so I asked him if it was alright to take pictures. He said yes and then went inside. I began with the digital camera and walked around the property some. Rabbits were everywhere.
Here's how I
saw it:
