CHIMPANZEE
Pan troglodytes
This fellow looks like some elderly statesman. A wonderful pose. He lives at the San Francisco Zoo with 3 others I think. This photo was taken at their old compound, the one back behind the Patas Monkey enclosure. Now they are located in the enclosure that my most favorite zoo animal used to live in, Lips the Orangutan.
I've also seen this same guy get very
irritated and he started picking up things, dirt, cloth shreds, you can imagine
what else..., and standing on his legs, he began rocking side to side onto one
leg then the other. He was yelling all the while and then he would fling what
ever he was holding in our direction. Check out some of the photos below and
you'll see what I mean.
