GOLDEN LION TAMARIN
Leontopithecus rosalia

2/10/05 - All right, I'd agree, this one isn't as cute as either of its cousins, the Cotton-Top and Emperor Tamarins. But it is as much of a challenge to photograph.
I was in Seattle Zoo back during Christmas and managed to go to the zoo. I had to start out in the tropic Asia house since it was cold out and my lenses fogged if I had them out before going in. So I kept them covered and insulated from my truck to the Asia house and got no fogging. I love to photograph the Ocelot and the Goeldi monkeys. Only this time I found a little family of Golden Lion Tamarins instead. They move around so much, they give the same challenge as other small primates and monkeys to capture just right, but that is why I like zoo photography. Well, I love the animals too.
