KOALA
Phascolarctos

I have had a crush on one of the cutest creatures on this planet for many, many years. I still have a blanket with a momma koala and her baby hanging on her back. I always wanted one for a pet, but don't be surprised by that innocent looking face. The koala will bite and scratch.
I have been watching the ones at the SF Zoo for several weeks. One stays in the windowed display area and the other comes out into the open compound and climbs up in the eucalyptus trees. I was amazed to see how well he could leap from trunk to trunk when he was descending from his perch. He moved very slowly coming down but leaped with surprising agility and then when he reached the ground, he scampered across the grass to another tree and climbed up to the branches.
You know, of course that the koala is not really a bear, but a marsupial. Yep, related to the kangaroo. Just click this link to read more about them: Koala
